Suddenly at home on Friday January 29, 2010 at the early age of 25. 

Born in North York on April 28, 1984, he was the only child of Glenn and Anita Kuiack ( nee Shalla ). Grandson of the late Frank and Margaret Shalla and Maxie and Evelyne Kuiack. Godson of Paul and Marilyn Shalla. Tyler will be sadly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

It is with great sadness the family of Valerie Joy Harris announces her passing on Thursday January 28, 2010.

Valerie is predeceased by her parents George and Gladys Harris and her brother Rodney Harris.  She is survived by and lovingly honoured by her three amazing children Shannon, Amber and George Giles.  She is fondly remembered by her children’s father George Giles Sr. and their step father Roger St. Pierre.

Predeceased by his wife Muriel and survived by Margaret.  He leaves five children, Carolyn (Alan Lewis), Iain (Barb), Brian (Stephanie), Sandra and predeceased by his son Gary.  He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law Linda and his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  He also leaves his brother George & his wife Yvonne and sister Grace Barker, both of Cobourg.  Predeceased by five brothers Wallace, Lloyd, William, Neil & Russell and sisters Ethel Stockdale, Helen Horsley and Roberta.

He was a Past Master & Founding Father of the Masonic Lodge of Fellowship #702 in Richmond Hill and Member of the Masonic Lodge Verulam #268.  Lawrence served overseas in WWII in the Suez Canal Zone and in Italy.

Slipped away at home on Monday, January 25, 2010. 

Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Brian Doherty (2003) and siblings Tom, Peg, Lillian, Jack, Mary and Pat.  She leaves behind her children, Barbara (Bill Wilcox), Catherine (Peter Kiar), Isobel Ferrara, Brian (Debby), Darcy (Rebecca Cumming) and Elizabeth (René Roy); her siblings Bob Beechinor, Eileen Machado and Ron Beechinor; her grandchildren Carolyn Wilcox, Patrick Ferrara, Charles, Sean and Victoria Doherty, Ganden, Reid and Cian Doherty, and Andrew and Joanna Roy; and her many longtime friends including Mabs Clark and Joan Davis.

Ann was born in 1924 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and grew up in Saskatoon.  She became a nurse (St. Paul’s) and met Brian, then an intern, when they were both working in a Calgary hospital.  They married in Oshawa in 1953.

Ann was first and foremost a mother.  The matriarch of the Doherty clan, she was strong, holding the family together through some very difficult times. Her children and the children of the neighbourhood have great memories of all of the times spent playing at the house, down by the creek or the hours in the backyard pool.  Ann loved to entertain, but was happiest when all her children, their partners and her grandchildren were gathered for a family meal.

Quite simply, she was a wonderful mother.

After the children were grown and moved out, Ann turned her attention to volunteer matters.  She served two terms on the Durham Health Council and ran for public school trustee.  Also she was a regular volunteer at the oncology unit of Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

In her later years she loved to travel, and on her travels she fell in love with Ireland, the birthplace of her parents.

In the end, she left this world as she had hoped to, peacefully in her own home.  As well, her prayers for her son’s recovery from advanced cancer were heard and realized.

The family wishes to thank her caregiver, Ethel, our sister-in-law Debby, who assisted greatly in Ann’s care, and Ann’s superb family doctor, Dr. Ted Brankston.

There will be a funeral mass at Church of St. Gregory The Great, 194 Simcoe St. N. (at Adelaide Ave. W.), Oshawa on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 pm followed by a reception at the Isabel McLaughlin Room at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, 72 Queen St., Oshawa.

Johanna passed away peacefully at her Home, after a short and courageous battle With cancer, in Oshawa on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 in her 86th year.

Beloved Wife of the late Martin Robbescheuten.  Johanna lived for many years in Pickering Village.  She will be sadly missed by her children John (Eileen), Neil (Audrey) and Christine.  Her youngest daughter, Olga (Rick Parsons) passed away October 6, 2009.  She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved going to Oma’s house, and her three siblings, Jan, Tonni and Annie and their families in the Netherlands.  Johanna loved life and helped many people to study the Bible.  She worked tirelessly as a Jehovah’s Witness. 

The memorial service will be held at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Rd. (N. of Hwy 2) Whitby, on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010.  Visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with light refreshments to follow.  A special thanks to Dr. Devost and the staff at L.H.O. Passed away in his sleep on Thursday, January 21st, 2010, at the age of 37.

Together they loved life and each other for more than 60 years.  Mom was a strong, energetic and gentle person who was devoted to her family, her faith and her flowers.  She was a lifetime member of the United Church and the horticultural society, and brought beauty to everything she touched.  She will be missed by many friends and all who shared her life.

July 3, 1922 – January 18, 2010  Irwin McKinley passed away in the early morning of January 18, 2010, at Thornton View Long Term Care Facility, in Oshawa.

Irwin was a long time resident of Oshawa after arriving from England in 1951 and a veteran of The British Army from the Second World War.  Irwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Elsie of Oshawa, and his son Gregory and life partner Marilyn Bellisle, of Penetanguishene. 

According to Irwin’s wishes there will be no funeral but the family will host a celebration of his life with friends and family at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112, 117 Byron Street South, Whitby, on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

Juergen passed away on Monday, January 18th, 2010 in his 56th year. 

Best friend and loving husband of Josette.  Lovingly remembered by his children Alex, Ray (Kate) and Jack.  Beloved son of Brigitta Mueller. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Gerry Weber (Lucy), Joe Mueller (Donna), Birgit Gauthier (Mike), Mike Mueller (Marlene).   He is predeceased by his father Helfried Mueller.   Juergen was the beloved son-in-law of Edward and Yvonne Sammut.  He enjoyed a very close relationship with his extended family; John Sammut (Nancy), Maries St. Paul, Natalie Sammut (Hal), Dave Sammut (Grace), Chris Sammut (Mary Jane), Alison Ryan.   Both the Muellers and the Sammuts will keenly feel Juergen’s absence at all family gatherings.   Juergen was devoted to his family and friends.  He had a generous heart and always put others ahead of himself.  His good natured disposition brought warmth into the lives of everyone who knew him.  He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews who thought the world of him.

Beloved husband of Bette for the past 64 years, and cherished father of their children, Jane Porter and Bob Bloomer.  Remembered with love by his son-in-law, Dr. Ronald Porter and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bloomer.  He leaves many friends and memories from his career at Eaton’s in Toronto from 1939 to 1956.

Lloyd’s time at Eaton’s was interrupted from 1942 to 1945 when he volunteered for service in the R.C.A.F.   He completed two distinguished tours of duty flying with the R.C.A.F., No. 424 Hamilton Squadron, in Eastern Canada and Europe during this time. 

Lloyd had a second career with IBM Canada in Toronto from 1956 until his retirement in 1982.  Friendships made at IBM have been a source of great solace and joy to Lloyd and Bette, in recent years. Remembered with love by his grandchildren, Sheri Fortune (Rod), Debbie Nero (Peter), Mike Bloomer (Jenn) and Karen Chenier, along with six great grandchildren, Brett Fortune, Lauren Fortune, Sarah Fortune, Mellia Bloomer, Jonathan Bloomer and Victoria Chenier. 

The family wish to thank Dr. MacIntosh, nurses and staff at Hillsdale Estates for the loving care they gave Lloyd for the past year and DHS Health Care Services for their care and support in his last few days.

In her 90th year, Olive left this life with courage, dignity and grace at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa on Saturday, January 16, 2010. 

The love of her life, Leo, predeceased her on September 4, 2009.  She was the best mom of six and very proud grandmother of twelve: Sandy (Martine); Eileen and Jim Minett (Ted, Jamie, Andrew); Gisele and Ted Drew (Joe, Kathleen, Emily); Frances and John Coleman (Billy and Buster); Joan and Gary Westoll (Katie Guadagno, Tom and Jon) and Bernadette (1988). 

Olive met her first great grandchild, Madeline Westoll-Guadagno just before Christmas.  What a beautiful moment in her life!  Her sister in law Florence Menard of Vaudreuil PQ, survives her.

Born in Toronto, October 31, 1920, Mary Olive Walker was the chosen daughter of Bill (1970) and Eileen (1947) Cardinal and loved sister of Theresa McKarney (2001).  She spent her early years in Oshawa moving with her parents to Cornwall where she lived until joining the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1941.  She worked as a stenographer in Ottawa and was transferred to Barriefield ON where she met her “Joe” in the spring of 1944. 

As the story goes, she refused to complete the paper work for a weekend leave requested by Sergeant Menard so he asked her to attend an upcoming dance at the Officer’s Mess.  Love quickly blossomed and Olive and Leo were married September 25, 1944. 

Two weeks later Leo left to serve his tour in Europe so Olive returned to Oshawa residing with her parents on Christie Street until Leo returned from Europe in 1946.   In 1948 they purchased their newly built home at 630 Grierson Street where they raised their family and lived for more than 50 years. 

Olive’s life revolved around her family and church.  She was a life-long member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church serving various executive positions for the Catholic Women’s League and the PTA at St. Gregory’s school.  She was actively involved in the “sewing club” a small group of parish women who did fundraising for the Catholic Mission Society.  The friendships she and Leo made through their involvement in the Gregorian Club, The Knights of Columbus, Council 2671 and the team at St Vincent’s Kitchen were always treasured. 

Olive was a very skilled bridge player, involved in two bridge marathon groups and was a regular player at the Northview Senior’s Centre.  Olive and Leo’s vegetable garden was a source of pride and joy and she loved sharing bumper crops of tomatoes and cucumbers with family and friends.

Olive planned the many trips that she and Leo enjoyed.  They traveled coast to coast in North America and visited Europe twice.  A real highlight was the trip to Holland to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their liberation in 1995. 

The move to Hillsdale in December of 2003 was difficult and emotionally painful for Olive and Leo.  In spite of their involuntary separation, the bond and love between them was evident to all. 
Two weeks before Leo died a poignant and touching reunion was arranged. 

Olive was an intelligent, strong and proud woman.  The characteristics she developed while serving the CWAC helped her travel life’s journeys both joyful and challenging.  The pride she had for her family was returned in their love and devotion for her. 

Thanks to her loyal friends for their visits and cards – she loved being remembered.  The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. MacIntosh and the staff on Strawberry Fields at Hillsdale Estates for Olive’s care over the past 6 years and especially during her last few days.  Heartfelt thanks to Father John for his spiritual support.

Beloved partner and soul mate of Gina Tass.  Jerry was born in Detroit Michigan and came to Oshawa in 1993 on a proposed three month job transfer/assignment and thereafter continued to work and live in Oshawa.  He is survived by his mother Mabel, sisters Carolyn Robinson (Al), Debbie Isaman, and brother Kevin, all of Michigan and brother Dale of Tennessee, as well as several nieces, and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his father Newton, sister Nancy, brothers Larry and Jeffery and sister-in-law Peggy, all of Michigan. Jerry will be sadly missed by Gina’s family, Philomena Holowaty, (John), Josephine Gangemi, Joseph Gangemi, Lou Suszek, and Karyn (Brendan) and Paige Gibney as well as many relatives, friends and co-workers in both Oshawa and Michigan.

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Edward Joseph Terech passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in his 84th year.  Cherished son of the late John and Stella Terech.

Loving father of Joanne (Bob), Paul (Liz), Michael (Marvic) and Chris (Rosemary).  Proud grandfather of Lisa, Katie, Mark, Corina, Chantel, Joseph and Victoria.  Edward is pre-deceased by his wives Mary and Doreen, and his beloved son Dennis.  He will be missed by older sisters Lottie and Frances, as well as his cherished friend Margie.

Born July 10, 1946 Edinburgh, Scotland – died January 9, 2010, Oshawa, Ontario. 

At Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.  She was the beloved wife of Gerald Bouchie, loving mother of Gary (Lori) of Oshawa and Scott (Grace) of Toronto and dear sister of Christine and John, both of Edinburgh, Scotland.  She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sophie and Ryan.  She was the beloved aunt of Carolyn, Allan and Keith.  She was predeceased by her parents George Night Bisset and Christine Mary (nee Toolen). Linda will be sadly missed by her 7 step-children and many step-grandchildren as well as her many dear friends.

Chick is now at rest having succumbed to renal failure at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, January 10th, 2010.  He leaves to mourn, his wife Jeanne of 56 ½ years, son Jon, daughter-in-law Jean, grandsons Ben and Will, sisters Mary Frolick and Elsie Hutchuk, brother Dave and companion Rose Wright, sister-in-law Judy Rickwood, two nieces Melody Karpiak and Janet Hutchuk, eight nephews Jim, Paul and Michael Frolick; Rick, Gary and Ed Hutchuk; and Rick and Jim Rickwood.  Chick’s request was for cremation with no visitation or service.

WWII Veteran Peacefully in his 87th year, Keith passed away at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on January 10, 2010 surrounded by his family. 

Predeceased by his wife Marjorie, brothers Merle and Bill, sisters Mary and Eileen, grandchild Kelly and great-grandchild Calvin Jacob. He is lovingly remembered by his four children Lorraine (Ray), Muriel (Dave), Gord (Pam) and Jo-Anne (Tony).  He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren Becki, Ron (Shannon), Curtis, Devin, Ryan and Carley and his great-grandchildren Randy, Nichole and Emma; brothers Allan, Ken and Roy and sister Alma.

BRIDGLALSINGH, Arnold Lawrence - 

(Retired High School Teacher) Died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Centenary Hospital, Scarborough. 

He was born in Trinidad on April 13, 1920 and graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.  He is survived by his loving wife Ena and sister Estell Khan of Ottawa and Eunice Bridglalsingh of Trinidad.  He was the brother-in-law of the Gopeesinghs of Trinidad. Arnold was a past master of the Masonic Lodge.

Beloved wife of the late Eddy Gallant.  Loving mother of Donna McDonald and Patricia Gallant (Morris) and the late Barbara Babich.  She will be sadly missed by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Doris O'Donnell, Josephine Hamilton (Tom), Marie Badgley (Bill) and Percy Northey (Anne).  Predeceased by sister Margaret Campbell (Stan), Ronald Northey (Phylis), Jeff Northey (Lottie) and Jim Northey (Doreen).

In her 62nd year following a courageous struggle with cancer passed away on January 9th at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. 

She was surrounded by family that included her daughter, Sarah Lowthian of Vancouver BC, sister, Margaret Barraball and her husband Dave, brothers, Dan with his wife Peggy and Gerald.  Special step daughters: Kelly, Jennifer and Ashley were present with their father Michael Lowthian.  Also present were nephews Craig and Brett Barraball, nieces Emily Reid and Jennifer with husband Christopher Cameron. BARRY, Elizabeth Sarah –

April 8, 1983 – January 8, 2010  Elizabeth passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital Toronto after a courageous fight with Lymphoma at the age of 26.  She will be forever loved and missed by her father Lynn, her brother Sam and wife Ashley, grandparents Dudley and Erla Wilson, aunts, uncles, cousins and her many supportive friends.  We know that she has found peace in Heaven alongside her Mom Valerie Wilson - Barry. Effie passed away in her 100th year, on January 8th, 2010 at Sunnybrook Hospital. 

Born in Port Whitby, she was the daughter of Nellie Heard and William Watson, devoted wife and beloved partner of Neil (1971), dear sister of Lene Burkhart (1991), sister-in-law of Gordon Burkhart (2006), and half-sister of Mac Watson (2009).  She was the cherished mother of Mary and her husband Peter Stanley, adored Gram of Tim Stanley (Charlotte) and Susan Stanley Diamond (Steve), precious ‘GG’  to Victoria and Nicole Stanley, and Lindsay and Cooper Diamond. Remembering Effie is her niece Judy Stranks, and the Watson and Heard cousins in Whitby, Oshawa and Belleville. 

An inaugural inductee to the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame, Effie was known as the “Grand Dame” of curling in Southern Ontario.  Her athletic accomplishments in curling and lawn bowling were matched only by the number of friends she made along the way.  The family sincerely thanks the dedicated staff at Four Teddington Park Retirement Residence in Toronto for providing such a wonderful and happy home for Effie. A very special thank you to Armilinda and her faithful caregivers who watched over her in good times and bad.

Predeceased by loving husband Ken Heard and daughter Kerrie.  Doris will be dearly missed by children Scott, Tracey (Lloyd) and Kyle (Brian).  Adored Gram of Jason, Lindsey, Anthony, Spencer, Tyler and Connor.  Cherished great grandmother of Savana, Jackson and Lucas.  Doris leaves behind sister Bush (Tom) and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home.  Visitation one hour prior to the service. Surrounded by family and friends, Cindy lost her bout with cancer at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on January 5, 2010.  She was 48.

She leaves us all with fond memories of our weekend horseshoes and the summer cottage.  Cindy will be greatly missed by her children Ryan and Kristy Holdershaw,  grandchildren Deshane, Emily and Duncan, fiancée Tim Welsh, brothers Dan and Steve Tureski and the extended Tureski, Holdershaw and Welsh families as well as many close friends.  Predeceased by her parents Mike and Marion Tureski.

Beloved husband of the late Helen.  Much loved father of Ronald and his wife Sheila and the late Donald and his late wife Yvonne. Cherished grandfather of Connie (Kevin), Rhonda (Bob), Ross (Sue) and Craig (Linda).  Loving G.G. of Nicole (Ryan), Natalie, Kristin, Kyle, Erin and Cameron and great-great-grandfather of Gavin.  Special Poppa to his four-legged friend Jezebel.  Ted is survived by his sister Doris and his brother Howard (Kathleen).  Predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.  He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends.

Peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, January 4th, 2010 at the age of 56 years.

At the Peterborough Regional Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit on Monday the 4th of January 2010, after a very courageous battle with cancer.  Hazel in her 71st year, passed peacefully. 

Hazel, dearly beloved and devoted daughter of the late Winnifred and Wilbert Safford, wife to the late Cyril Gardiner (2007) and a special friend to Mell DeVries.  A cherished sister to Marion Banford (Ed) of Smiths Falls and Leon Safford (Sue) of Calgary. A very special Aunt to Carole Cullen-Cote (Mike) of Ajax and Judy Roche (Ken) of Calgary and Donald Safford (Barb) of Calgary. A great Aunt to Ryan Safford and Bradley Roche of Calgary, Justin Cullen of Rideau Ferry and Darla Stuart (Doug) and family Taylor, Chantale and Katrina of Oshawa, Adrienne and Jesse Coté of Smiths Falls. 

Hazel, a retired school teacher was a very positive and active member in her church as well with other organizations such as World Vision.  Hazel, enjoyed living life to the fullest by travelling and spending time with her family and many friends. 

Hazel, always had a encouraging words and loved to share with anyone that came into her life.  Anyone that knew Hazel, loved her.  She was a truly kind and giving person, always there with a hug and a kind word for anyone that needed it.   A more reliable and faithful friend one could never find. Hazel will be sadly missed by her family, relatives and many friends that knew this inspirational woman. 

Hazel wished to thank each of you for your prayers, your visits and emails with encouraging words and love.  She also wished to give a big thanks to the nurses and the D2 Palliative Care staff that attended to her every need from Nightengale, the staff and Dr. G. Doyle her Palliative Care physician. 

Funeral service is to be held at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm followed by refreshments and a time of fellowship.  If desired donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Peterborough Regional Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit.

Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the age of 98. 

Viola is survived by her grandchildren Curt, Dana and her husband Kevin, Brett and Jade, her great-grandchildren Jillian, James, Dalen and Damon as well as her nephews Gerry, Wayne, Butch, Stephen, niece Christine and their families.  Prior to retiring in 1972, Viola worked as a receptionist for Dow Chemical.  She loved to travel and is now on a journey.  She was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humour who loved a good hockey game. 

Born in Montreal, she will return there now, but will forever remain a Leaf fan.  The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for her in her final days.  Viola requested no memorial service and her wishes will be honoured.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the young age of 56.

Henry was a Torpedo Boat Gunner serving in the Navy in WWII and retired from General Motors Canada with 40 years service.  He was an avid painter, cyclist, roller blader, ice skater and coached sports for kids, he was also very active with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean (nee Mitchell), beloved wife of the late Rev. Reginald Charles Rose. Loving mother of James Rose and his wife Janet, Anne and her husband Ian Ness and Mary and her husband Stewart Wood.  Proud Nana of Vanessa and Kyra Rose, Sarah, Emma and Graeme Ness and Jacquelyn and Patrick Wood.  Dear sister of Ruth Anthony, Edna Mitchell and sister-in-law of Jeanne Langille all of Halifax.  She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Wesley Mitchell.  Jean was born July 15, 1928 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and was a member of the Ontario College of Pharmacists and worked as a Pharmacist for many years in both Port Perry and Toronto.  She took great pleasure in travelling, music, crosswords, rousing games of Scrabble and the many accomplishments of her grandchildren.

Our mother, Mabel Irene Rowland, died January 1, 2010 at the age of 89 years. 

Mom lived in Moncton, New Brunswick for the past four years, after living all of her previous years in southern Ontario, having been born in Sidney Township, Ontario.

Mom’s parents were Reverend Thomas and Annie Wallace, her father having been a minister for the United Church.  Mom had four sisters – Ruby Beare of Port Perry, Hilda Alexander of Sutton, Grace Couch of Newcastle, and Elsie Shearer of Oshawa; and Mom had three brothers – George Wallace of Belleville, Clayton Wallace, and Douglas Wallace of Port Perry.  With the exception of Ruby, all of Mom’s siblings have predeceased her.

Mom’s second husband, who died in 2003, was Al Rowland.  Our father, Gerald Mattice, died in 2006, and we are the children of Mabel and Gerald – Sandra Mattice of Bedford, Nova Scotia and Wayne Mattice of Riverview, New Brunswick.  Mom had two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many other family relations and friends.

The highlights of Mom’s life were threefold.  Before marriage she served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Corporal, having been stationed on Canada’s east coast and in Ottawa.  In spite of the tragedy of WWII, the camaraderie that she experienced in the Air Force remained always important to her.  Even in recent years when we would be out for a walk, we would still practice the military march as if we were her recruits.  At Mom’s request, the Last Post will be played at her funeral service in recognition of her military service.

We, Mom’s children, were the most important part of her married life.  Her want for our happiness and well-being remained always the centre of her life.

And music was an integral part of Mom’s entire adult life, including playing in bands and volunteering her gift of piano and accordion playing for all kinds of social events. Even when she could no longer make music, she never lost the musical beat in her soul.  Mom’s music was the source of much joy for many people.

We offer our heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers and residents of Mount Royal Eldercare for the enduring compassion and friendship shown to Mom during her four-year residency. We are also very thankful for the recent support of ProTem Health Services who provided a warm and caring home environment during the last two months of Mom's life.

Fernando was predeceased by his wife Maria da Conceicao Rodrigues.  Loving father of Marcey (David Povinsky), Wilson (Lorraine Burli) and Philip (Vicky Reid).  Devoted grandpa of Robin, Ryann, Justine and Sara.  Great grandfather of Zack and Britton Poulin.  Predeceased by his brother Jose. 

Fernando was a long time General Motors employee, retired 1990, an active community member and former President and co-founder of the Portuguese Club, member of the wood working club and an avid lover of music.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Fernando leaves behind many cherished memories. 

Those wishing to make donations in Fernando's memory can make them to the Alzheimers Society of Durham or the Lakeridge Health Corporate Diabetes Program.  Donations can be made by credit/debit card or cheque at Armstrong Funeral Home ,124 King Street East, Oshawa.  Visitation will be held on Monday January 4th from 2pm to 4pm & 7pm to 9pm with Rosary service in Portuguese at 3:15pm all to be held at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday January 5th at 11am.  Interment service to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  For online condolences please go to www.armstrongfuneralhome.net.

Passed away on Friday, January 1st, 2010 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 65. 

Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Phemia Varnum.  Terry will be sadly missed by his three sons Terry, Dean and Sheldon, their mother Debbie and three granddaughters Brook, Brianna and Desiree.  He is also survived by an aunt, Olive Micklewright in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.  Terry will be sadly missed by his very best friends Len English and his wife Terry. 

Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, January 8th from 7 – 9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9th in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m.  Cremation.
